Fitment Guide: Will it Fit My Ride?

Fits all Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+ trims, including: Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, Unlimited, and Special Editions.

  • Will work with ALL OEM spare tire and wheel combinations
  • Will work with any spare tire size. Fitment depends on wheel size, not tire size
  • Will work with all OEM wheel (rim) sizes up to 20”
  • Will work with all OEM installed tire carriers
  • NOT recommended for vehicles with aftermarket bumpers with integrated hitch

IF you have an aftermarket spare wheel (rim) or an aftermarket tire carrier please follow the guidelines below OR watch the video below to ensure proper fitment of your rucRak to your application.

NOTE 1: If you have an aftermarket wheel, measure wheel depth by placing a placing a yardstick or a level flat across the tire and measuring from the lug nut to the outside of the tire, see the image below noting 5-7/8".

If that measurement is MORE than 5-7/8", then you will need to add Mounting Stud Extensions to your order.

Fitment Note 1 NOTE 2 : If you have an aftermarket tire carrier, measure the tire height by placing a yardstick or a level inside the hitch and measuring from the center of the wheel to the top of the hitch, see image below noting <2-1/2".

If that measurement is MORE than 22.5", then you will need to add Feet Extension Set to your order.

Fitment Note 2 NOTE 3 : If you have an aftermarket tire carrier or a positive offset on your wheel, measure from the pin hole in your hitch to a virtual vertical line on the outside of your tire as shown in the mage below noting <14".

If that measurement is MORE than 14”, then you will need to add Pedestal Extension Set to your order.

The rucRak GRUNT rear bumper tire carriers can securely carry two bikes with wheelbases ranging from 25" to 45" and tire widths up to 4 inches. This includes everything from small kids’ bikes to full-size adult mountain bikes.

E-Bikes:

Will the GRUNT rear cargo carrier fit my larger-than-stock spare tire?

Yes — tire size does not affect fitment of the rucRak GRUNT. What matters is your wheel size, since that determines how the rear hitch cargo carrier mounts to your spare.

The rucRak GRUNT spare tire mount weighs approximately 30–33 lbs, depending on your configuration. Although it mounts to your rear spare tire, the weight is not carried by the tire or tailgate alone. The included load handler rests in your hitch and supports the system from underneath, distributing weight safely and preventing stress or damage to your tire carrier.

This design keeps the GRUNT lightweight, secure, and fully compatible with Jeep and Bronco spare-mount setups.

How do you install the rucRak GRUNT Bronco & Jeep cargo carrier?

How to Install the rucRak GRUNT Bronco & Jeep Hitch Cargo Carrier Aluminum Racks

Follow these quick steps after unboxing your rucRak GRUNT aluminum cargo carrier :

1. Install the rucRak Studs
Use the included tool to remove your factory lug nuts and replace them with the rucRak mounting studs.

2. Add the Backing Nuts
Thread the backing nuts onto the studs and position them against the spare-tire mount.

3. Mount the GRUNT
Place the assembled rucRak Grunt onto the studs and ensure the uprights sit flush against the spare tire.

4. Install Front Nuts
Secure the Grunt by tightening the front nuts onto the studs.

5. Add Cover Plate
Install the cover plate to lock in the top stud and add rigidity.

6. Install Load Handler
Slide the load handler into your hitch receiver to support the rack’s weight.

7. Adjust Load Feet
Lower and tighten the adjustable feet onto the load handler to stabilize the system.

8. Test Tailgate Access
Open your tailgate to ensure full, effortless access with the Grunt installed.
